    yes

correction. as long as you do not intend to commit a crime. and also, this isnt legal advise, as i may or may not be a monkey capable of typing, you should do your own research and understand the law to the best of your own ability, and if you have questions contact a lawyer.

Some people have been known to go out to dinner with their unloaded AK's hidden in guitar cases. This is known as a "guitar party!"

Might there be local city laws to outlaw such action. If someone is really going to do this (I advice strongly against it), they better do a LOT of research.

I dont open carry, and probably will never do so but does it matter where the gun is located? I know on the hip/waist is the norm, but what about a leg holster. Just wondering because it doesnt say in the searches I've found, unless I overlooked it. Good luck with open carrying an AK or an AR. Also, for what reason do you want to open carry a long arm? A lot of people still "judge the book by the cover" and if you look young, like a punk, baggy clothes, or even of certain races, they might "think" your gonna blast people or something along those lines.

If your walking around your property, you can have a concealed, loaded weapon correct? From what I read it sounds ok. Just wondering since this stuff has been brought up...

especially with what happened in the last few days. LEOs may be inclined to fire first and ask questions later. Repercussions wont mean dick when the media turns them into the hero of the day for taking out a lone gunmen or worse, a group.
four officers just got killed by an "assault rifle" in oakland and you want to open carry a rifle?
                Buy my EO Tech XPS3-0!!!

I've often thought about this exact subject. I've thought about open carrying a rifle, such as a Mosin Nagant... one that would be cheap and easy to replace should some LE agency deem it wise to "confiscate" should I be arrested or detained.

I know you suppose to have the weapon in a threatening manner, but if you get a bunch of people saying they were scared, i wonder, wouldnt that be good enough to charge you?? I am just curious becus it seems to be, if you open carried in public, they would find something to charge you with, if not just draw their guns on you and make you go through the motions of a criminal! I think certain things are just pushing the envelop too far, in my opinion.
they would have to prove that it was in a threatining manner to charge with brandishing.

Post-Oakland, I think LE and the public is really going to be on edge for a while and you won't get much sympathy or respect if you're the subject of a man with a gun call.

It's really interesting how the attitude so far has been very anti-open carry (one could say, "anti-gun" on the subject of open carry)... I'd expect the general sentiment to either be neutral or in-favor of open-carry.

(I'm pro-open-carry LOADED, no permits/registration/testing needed. Even if a bunch of gang-bangers are walking around wearing guns, I'm only afraid when they actually pull them out and start shooting at me. People gotta understand that a gun is merely a tool; I'm not afraid when people walk around with knives clipped in their pockets, so why should I be afraid when they're wearing a gun in a holster?)

No thats not correct because if you have an open magwell it can be considered a AW right? its gotta be slung over your shoulder with an empty fixed 10rnd mag.

I dont think we are being anti- open carry, I just think, we are being cautious and dont want to stir the pot and test the waters just yet. I am totally for open carry, hell i sometimes think of moving to Arizona, but Californians are barely getting used to the fact that we can actually own Ar's and Ak's, so I think it would be best to take it one step at a time, so we dont scare people. Hopefully we can open carry loaded weapons one day, i think that would help alot. In Los Angeles, its seems only the criminals carry concealed weapons
