    Kel-Tec Sub-2000 doesn't like ETS mags

I'm breaking in my new KelTec Sub-2000 Gen 2 purchased from Wilde Built Tactical. I noticed that my fully loaded ETS magazines would not seat properly in the magwell when loaded full or nearly full (7-10rnds) with the bolt closed. And sometimes unseat themselves, causing random FTF. The ETS mags woudld only reliably seat if they were half-full!

But what's worse, when I slapped the magazine hard to make it seat firmly, it would get seriously stuck in the magwell. The last time at Jackson Arms, the RO and I couldn't get the magazine out. We ended up disassembling the baseplate so we could grab the mag well and yank it out with a pair of vice-grip pliers!

Using calipers, I found that the ETS magwall is actually slightly narrower (~0.25mm) than the Glock OEM, so that shouldn't be causing the jam. I think I've identified 2 possible causes of the problem. The ETS magazine is about 1-2mm taller than a Glock OEM mag. And the angle of the bevel at the top of mag has a ledge. I'm going to try and sand this edge off but not cut the top as that's lip keeps the shells in.

I like the ETS's transparent design which mags round counts a breeze. The work flawless in my Glock but for the Sub2000 they're a no-go. I switched back to my OEM mags. I also found that KCI (those Korean clone mags) fit without issue.

Probably not the best forum for this question.

Aside from the mag issue make sure you go on kel-tecs website and input your sub 2000s serial number in the Recall thing.

I recently bought a Gen 2 sub2k, and it fell under the recall. Just sent it back for the new barrel.

The recall was because they determine several production runs had improper heat treated barrels.

Wasn't sure, since the Sub2K is blowback and not gas operated. Thanks.

I did check and no, my rifle isn't part of the recall. In fact, Kel-Tec was very responsive to my inquiry about my mag issue, sending me a new mag catch very quickly. But they weren't aware of the ETS length variation.

I found out the ETS mag problem about a year ago when I got my Sub2000. For sure they don't work in the Sub2000. I never tried to figure it out though since I have a bajillion Glock mags.

It’s the height of the shelf on the left side, I did discovered it in 2015 when I first got mine,

You need to bring it down to the height of the standard glock ones.
After trying it I then dremeled all of mine and they all work.

Put them side by and measure that shelf and you will see how they stick out

Here is one I fixed back 2015, I pretty much did all the same
                After that.

Thanks for the tip blackberg. Still needs a hard slap to get in than OEM mags but at least they don't totally jam up in the magwell anymore. I still needed to file/sand down the top of the magazine to get them to work drop-free.
