Chances of an LEO encounter are pretty low unless you're shooting in public lands or look like a drug dealer and the chances of you being prosecuted for this are even less.
In case it wasn't obvious, nothing I write here should be interpreted as legal advice.

While I agree with Calif Patriot, it is NASTY should you get picked up....

I had a coworker, years ago, whose wife went nuts- 5150 hold.... Neighbors called the cops on her....

He got home and they had collected his Mini 14 with an aftermarket - end of barrel attachment.

now this coworker's brother worked for the FEDS... He made a call on behalf of his brother and LEO still were not sure if the device was a brake or a flash hider.... Were they going to release the firearm or charge him with a series of felonies....

So if it looks like a duck
      Quacks like a duck...

What is it? a Duck or a flash hider?

Oh- every brake changes the flash of a rifle... by default it changes how/ where gases go... so to say this does not reduce flash... is BS
      ---
      From the link-

Similar to A2 style brake, the open top slots and closed bottom increase muzzle control and reduce dust signature making it compliant with California Featureless laws. The end is also blocked to reduce recoil. 1/2" x 28 threads .223/ 5.56 compatible. This device will not reduce or remove flash.

      Features/Specifications:

      Increases muzzle control

      Reduces dust signature

      Closed front design reduces recoil
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Yeah I plan on going to sac valley range frequently. Will probably just go with a thread protector and call it good. No chance of confusion.

carry a photo of FH and the muzzle break. Put them side by side and show it to them. If they can't distinguish one from the other, then they're either blind, stupid or out to get you.

pretty good idea. Will just do that since I ordered them last week without thinking about this.

If you’re a clean cut white guy, you don’t have much to worry about.

My friend was in the police academy in north SF Bay Area and they taught profiling. Trust me, they’re not trained to watch white people.

I got jammed up at sac valley before for carrying my raw aluminum 80 percent AR15 with 22 upper on my way to the 22 steel range. Some thick white chick from the range cane down and started asking questions. I was like it’s a 22 relax, you want to touch it?? Hahahaha she left after that....

That Aim Sports brake comes with a little card that states it is a Muzzle Brake. Can't hurt to throw that in the bottom of your range bag.

Lucky for you, Aim actually put out a youtube video showing how their brake does not reduce flash, and actually increases it:

bought a muzzle brake at turners. 12 bucks. It is just as nice looking as a AR flash hider. Kept the package that says right on it with a PN # MUZZLE BRAKE. I keep it in my range bag for proof.

Definitely keep the packaging with you which states that it does not reduce flash. Any muzzle device that even mentions flash attenuation would be a no go for a LEO. I keep my muzzle brake info in my range bag just in case.

If you really want to err on the side of caution then steer clear of a muzzle device that even looks like a flash hider for a featureless build. Typical Muzzle Brakes have the distinctive 2 or 3 chamber design which any LEO should be able to distinguish.
