    AR scope under $ 225

I am 70 years old and need magnification and clear optics. I recently bought a S&W AR . Being on a tight [ retired ] budget i must watch how i spend my meager funds. My requirements are good magnification for 100 yards only. Just shooting paper targets. Minimal extras are ok. How about fixed magnification. I would prefer something compact. I just do not like the looks of a large hunting rifle scope on a AR.I go to the local so cal gun shows and their is one display with a large amount of scopes for sale at every show. forget the name[ off brand ] , They take two or more spaces selling scopes only. ANY GOOD
    THANKS

I have a Nikon Fixed 3x with their mounts. I think it's called a P223. It's just what I wanted- compact, light & good enough out to 100 yds.
My friend has a similar scope on an AR. Bushnell 1-4x that meant for AR's. both of these are good values. Good luck.

I've been shooting a Vortex 1-4x (it's CMP legal for AR service rifle matches) and been able to get very high scores with it. For my older eyes its wonderful to be able to see the crosshair and target both perfectly clear. (which I can't do with iron sights anymore)
Vortex Optics Crossfire II Rifle Scope 1-4x 24mm Illuminated V-Brite Reticle
Its runs about $199 and weighs in at 1 lb. On the set up below total weight is 10 lbs.

I will second The Vortex Crossfire II. I have it on one of my AR s and it's perfect for a hundred yard use.

Burris AR-536 5x prism optic is about $225, and sometimes lower if you watch the sales. Lifetime, no questions asked warranty, which is good if you're on a tight budget. Excellent optic, although somewhat heavy. Doesn't really matter if it's just bench shooting.

I just spent a morning punching paper with Primary Arms' 5x prism optic--fantastic accuracy at 100 yards, super easy aiming. It's a little more than your budget (I got it for $275 shipped) and it doesn't have a lifetime warranty.

Bushnell elite 3200 10x tactical. I have them on a couple rifles. Very consistent knobs, will return to zero from 550 yards on my AR.

                  Pics attached for reference!

If you wanted to save a little more money up, check out SWFA super sniper. Those are Japanese also, and outclass the Bushnell. Very good scopes for the money.

I put a Cabela's 3power circle dot on one of my ARs and it became my favorite real fast . Check it out .

I have been looking at this one by Leupold. Fits the budget with some money left for a mount.

For an AR, an illuminated 1-4, 1-6, or 1-8 is ideal. However, 1-6 and 1-8 get pricey real quick.

If you don't mind starting at 3X, a very popular compact scope that gets excellent reviews is the UTG Bug Buster for $75.

Sometimes you can even find them for less on sale.
