If he keeps it as featureless or with a mag lock, nothing will change.

You can transfer the disassembled lower, with bullet button removed.

I would make it featureless...then transfer it. Remove the flash hider...buy a sparrow dynamics grip and get a stock stop from strike industries. It will take you all of 50 dollars in parts and about 10 minutes of time. Be sure to add in a regular magazine release when you're done...

The fixed magazine options are ok but when you have some sort of an ammo malfunction (say a double feed)....you're in a world of trouble trying to fix it. Ever tried to take apart an ar with a double feed? It's not fun...

I asked my son tonight which configuration he wants & he said featureless. Wants to be able to drop a mag & clear weapon in case of a malfunction. I’ll probably do the Strike Industries one which includes everything inc the brake for 40 bucks. Seems like the cheapest way to go & can be converted back easy if it goes out of Commiefornia someday. My question was about waiting after July 1st & if there were any issues. Looks like I’m ok then. What’s the ruling on the BB now since it’s not considered a fixed mag anymore? I know there was confusion before- especially if it was bought with one. My take is the BB can be removed & a standard mag release can be installed. What say you? There’s nothing in the flow chart saying if you can or can’t.

If it has a bullet button it is supposed to be registered as an AW before July 1st, or it would be an unregistered aw which would be illegal. If you just leave it unassembled (separate the upper and lower)until you have the proper parts then that is technically legal. If you make it featureless then you can put on a regular magazine release

I wonder how hard it would be to clear a double feed with a Compmag???
