Hello,
Can anyone comment on the durability differences between Remingtons Sportsman 11-87 shotguns vs their Police line of 11-87 shotguns?
I've read the specifications but I get a little worried when I see that the Sportsman triggerguard is made of plastic and the Police version is metal. I know many plastics these days are very tough but, I've still got the jelly-brain thinking that it's not as durable.
My basic philosophy is that if a manufacturer makes one part out of plastic then they're cutting corners there and probably other places too.
My bias against plastics in general is because I've seen plastic parts shrink and get brittle over time, and I've seen Colt 1911 magazines with plastic followers that wore down pretty quick. However, I do like Glock pistols and it pains me they'll degrade over a few hundred years.
Thank you,
Joe
