ARES SCR Generation 2 - Complete Rifle?

Am considering a sporter AR platform (Mini-14 fan) and saw this vid:

    Interested in the 18" rifle.

Are they sold as complete rifles?

    Any info/price/experience w/ these things?

    TIA

    GR

(I think, therefore I am armed.)

    Lots of info here:

Ive only seen them sold with 16" uppers. But to me, one of the biggest appeals is the ability to use any AR upper. I would (and plan to) buy the lower and choose an upper separately.

This. Their upper is nothing special. The lower is.

The company is called Fightlite now. There are a few more options, but nothing that blows up my skirt.

The monte carlo stock is more likely to work as far as sightlines go. The cheekweld is very low on the sporter.

I have a complete SCR rifle that I bought before they became Fightlite. I haven't shot it yet. Completely useless response =)

Shop rifle parts (2,635) at Brownells, including barrels, stocks, triggers, and bolt carriers to customize, repair, or upgrade your rifle’s performance.

Factor in shipping and dealer transfer fee. Depending on total cost it maybe a wash or cheaper to find a trusted local FFL/LGS that can order these for you, tax and dros would apply to both types of purchases.

I personally don't like any of the completely built guns and I preferred to buy my own uppers for mine.

I have a PSA 16" and a PSA 24" upper for mine. Complete system.

go here to see pics. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...9#post21325329

I’ve been looking at one of these too. Agree that the upper is nothing special and you’d be better off buying a lower and putting your upper of choice on it.

I’m thinking a Faxon side charging piston upper myself.

I was looking at that as well. Talked to Faxon specifically to make sure there wouldn't be any unexpected issues. Apparently they have tested this and it works fine.

The issue I had was that the sightlines are an even bigger issue because the top rail of the Faxon ARAK upper is even higher than a normal AR upper.

If you do it please post back here about it. Curious to hear your review.

I ended up building my own upper in 6.5 Grendel with wood furniture to make it less scary looking. That's been a sweet setup for me. Cheek riser was absolutely needed though.
