yugo ak stock and handguard question

so ive been reading these boards alot and they have helped me piece together 2 ar's and now i am working on getting my yugo ak built. ive been doing a lot of reading on multiple forums and have come up with the same results........nothing.according to the results the yugo reciver that i have will not allow me to add a new set of tactical handguards (yugos have longer handguards) and a tapco side folding stock (only takes one bolt through the stock not the top or bottom screws like the romys). is this true? and if not can i add these features? i would like to know because i just droped my kit off at the shop to begin the build.

sounds about right, and the Tapco stock sucks anyway.

Yugo's have unique handguards, which as you've mentioned are longer than standard ones. Plastic handguards won't fit.

As for the folding stock, you may run in trouble with it being too short. Don't forget that the defintion of an "assault weapon" includes:

      (3) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has an overall length of less than 30 inches.
I'm not even sure that a tapco side folding stock would fit (it more than likely would not). But you need to be aware that even with a fixed 10 round magazine, you run the risk of overall length falling under 30 inches.
In a letter dated December 28th 2005 Deputy Attorney General Alison Merrilees stated:

"You should also be aware that we intend to add it soon to the DOJ Assault Weapons Identification Guide. Therefore, the Stag-15 will soon be classified as an assault weapon."

      To Mrs. Merrilees I ask:

      Whats your definition of soon?

Yugo underfolders must be pinned because they run under 30 inches. Not sure about the sidefolders but I'd be sure it's at least 31 inches just to be on the safe side!

please, don't murder an AK woth all that useless tac gear. It was never meant to be anything more than what it is already. If you want a gun to be tactical, an AR is probably a better choice for you.

aklover i just wanted to put a forward hand grip and a nice eotech on the front handguards versus putting it on the reciever cover.i am in the process of having my yugo with woodstocks being built by a place in azusa and i would like to have a tac out ak to go with it and along side with my ar's. by the way anyone know a good local place to buy a troy 13.5" handguard for a good price?
