With the number of companies that seem to mass produce "match grade" gear, maybe I had the wrong impression of what "match grade" means. I thought it meant that the parts were made to super tight tolerances when fit into one another. How does this apply if one buys a barrel, from one company and a bolt from another..so on and so on. Can anyone clear this up for me? I ask because I am looking into building a long range AR and am wondering if I should splurge on match grade parts or standard. Thanks for any info.

It's really a marketing ploy. There is no legal deffinition of "match grade". So, if you want good quality, you need to do more research than just reading the product's advertising campaign.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

For barrels, when true match grade ones are needed, Krieger, Hart, Douglas Premium, Obermeyer,etc...are top notch. Other parts, you need to research.
For AR true match parts, I always have great success with Compass Lake Engineering items. They are specialized in AR match grade build.Comment
