    Finished My First AK

Hey everyone, I have been a lurker on this board for some time, and it has led me to 2 OLL ARs and 2 AKs. From advice here and on other forums I have somehow managed to build myself the first of two AKs

It is a Romanian with US furniture, Tapco FCG, BBQ Paint finish, and a copy of morepoop4u's mag-lock. I did it with U-drives and button screws. Haven't shot it yet (hopefully this weekend), but it cycles pretty smooth.

Thanks for all the advice on this great forum for California shooters!

looks nice. It should be a lotta fun. But that being said, screw builds are icky. Gets some rivets and some modified bolt cutters for the next one.

Definately looks nice. Im reading around on how to build these up, and wanted to pick up a YUGO parts kit. Every Romanian parts kit ive seen has that forward pistol grip ?? I dont see it on yours??

Edit: Never mind =) I re-read your post and did a little digging

                Very nice!

May I ask what site you found to be the most helpful? I've been dancing around the idea of an AK build for quite some time now.

I really need to pick up a Romy kit just so I have one...

Where did you get your 10 round mags and do they function well?

Also did you paint the receiver?

Tis a 10 rounder from cdnn and yes I did paint the receiver as well. I cleaned all the parts with brake cleaner, steel wooled them, washed them with soap & water, and then heated each part up in the oven before painting. It was worth the effort.

Please let us know how the BBQ paint finish on the receiver holds up. I'm thinking about doing the same thing to my Romy-g rivet build (in progress). Anybody in the bay area set up for parkerizing??

Yea...I might need to make my whole AK parked too. I am gonna call Larry Hirota to see if he will park it. Anyone recommend someone in the SoCal area for parkerizing? Thanks
