    Your thoughts on RRA uppers

I'm looking to build my first AR -

I asked two guys that were on team gunsite competition team -both swat type guys, old gunsite(Col Copper) range masters

which fully assembled upper to buy?

one said colt. period. the other said RAA, Colt, or les Baur as in 3rd

I see people here go nuts for LMT, DD, noveske, and one or two others, but no mention of RRA as being "the tits"

I want a 16-18 inch medium fully fluted stainless barrel

At this point, unless there is a reason, I'm going with the BCG that comes with it

    thoughts?

    thanks

RRA makes perfectly good uppers, not sexy ones like Noveske or LMT, but perfectly functional

Reasonably priced, relatively common, good solid stuff

Alot of RRAs have Wylde chambers, which is a plus to many consumer shooters

I've had 3 RRA uppers with a fourth on the way, in addition to CMMG, LMT and Stag....all work fine !

The past 2 months I have owned a LMT, a GG&G Dominator (Sabre Defense) a Bushmaster, and a Spikes. I had to buy them all to see which one I liked the best (since NO gun store in San Diego has these). The one I'm keeping is my most recent one, got it last week- MY RRA 14.5!!! It is well built, well finished, and fits my S&W lower the best out of all of them (the LMT was about as good of a fit). Furthermore, I wanted to have an authentic M4 size upper (not a 16" or 18" M4 "style"), and the RRA has a slightly thicker barrel profile under the handguards for a super solid feel. No M203 cutout on mine either.

I purchased two RRA 16" mid-length uppers, one pretty standard and the other with their version of the QD carry handle and free float aluminum railed forearm and I have no complaints whatsoever. I've never had a failure to function in any regard. I'll continue to purchase RRA as long as their quality remains where it is currently at.

        Have a nice day.

In those exact specs, the complete varmint uppers at www.whiteoakarmament.com are really nice uppers. 1/8, or 1/7 twist on the varmint uppers, 18" you can have them custom make it however you want, and I haven't heard a single issue with them from anyone who shoots them. That WILL be my next upper from them. Going with a match upper for out of the box sub-moa accuracy.
