First AR 10 in my Familia

My cali complain build, was supposed to be done in free america but the job has me in cali for the time being so cali compliant is it.

    Build is
New frontier armory MS 10 lower and c10 upper
Primary arms ACSS 308 scope in a 20 moa ADM mount
    MFT compliant grip and stock
    apex handguard
Cryptic bolt (look pretty cool and slicker then snot)
    Rainier match barrel w/5r rifling
    Raptor CH
    Heavybuffers.com buffer and spring
    spartan trigger

waiting on - m4-72 sever duty brake

got the upper for a killer deal, mega upper receiver, apex HG, and rainier barrel. person i bought it from was honest and said unknown round count but upon receipt this barrel looked brand new and the .75 5 round group slow fire and 1.25 quick fire say the accuracy is still there. had to replace the mega upper with the c10 upper since the mega upper is cut for AR10 and not dpms but luckily its threaded for DPMS so everything swapped over smooth.

the cryptic bolt, love the way they look. Bought a blem and they made a mistake and sent me a 556 bolt (hot dog in a hallway....) called them and that same day they called me back apologizing told me they were out of 308 blems but since it was their mistake they sent me a brand spanking new bolt and the return label would be in the box with the new bolt! Got to love customer service.

        AR 10 Build

Looks nice. However, CA. has basically destroyed the AR 10 market and operation. I can shoot mine o.k. with the monsterman grip and a MOE stock from Magpul. The Surefire Procomp is loud but helps substantially with recoil.

But all that is from a bench rest. Without the pistol grip control beyond that is questionable. One LGS has 6-7 of them on consignment. Another has none in stock for sale at all. I guess the only thing possibly moving is the much bally-hooed 6.5 Creedmore with lighter recoil, but no FMJ surplus rounds to use for target practice.

Perhaps as rounds become more available the 6.5 Crd. will become more appreciated, prices come down on ammo & the guns, but in the real world, it still is not a .308 and never will be. Besides, the military will never switch over to another caliber so the 7.62x51 in this state has been relegated to the history books in AR form.

Yes, I know the M1A is fine, will do what it's designed for, it has a cult following, but it will never replace the AR 10. If only a SCAR wasn't priced out of a working man's budget!
