Grrr... Working on the 10/22 and didn't know I needed hammer shims...

I've got my nice shiny new 10/22. I bought some VQ parts, hammer, extractor, buffer, extended recoil rod, went to put it in and found out I have the newer plastic model which has to have the shims...

Oh that, and somehow the safety rotated in the trigger block when I pulled it appart, and it took me a while to figure out WTF stuff wasn't going back together right.

Boo. Off to make another order...

    Just venting, that's all.

    Thanks.

What is different between the new ones and the old ones... I have both now... If I order some parts from VQ what needs to be ordered for teh new one? Shims?

The new hammer is much fatter than the old hammer. To put any aftermarket hammer in, VQ, Power, etc, you'll have to have the ruger shims... Midway is out of them now, I'm on the search for other vendors. I may just get them straight from Ruger...

I thought the old one came with shims.

Just buy the Volquartsen trigger group.

In fact, instead just buy a Volquartsen RIFLE.

By the time you get a new 10-22 working, you could have bought a $1K VQ. BTW the most accurate 22 I've ever shot (semi-auto) 1/4 inch groups at 75 yards with Eley Match:
