I have been having issues with my charging handle coming lose while shooting my carbine. I tried using a correct sized lockwasher hoping the allen screw/lockwasher combo would help keep the charging handle snug to the bolt carrier. Range trip yesterday and about 20 rounds in the charging handle was loose...

I don't like the idea of using blue locktite to keep the charging handle from loosening up but I am not sure what else to do. I might give Ruger a call and see what they say...

AR15.com were addressing this and other issues. They also do not recommend loctite for a screw that needs to be removed from time to time.

Why? That's what it is for.

Don't like it for something to be removed with every field strip. Prefer it for semi permanent assemblies only.

If I can torque it less than 65 in-lbs and have it stay put and not mess up the screw head I'd opt for it, but if there's better screws I can see why people would think they know better than Ruger. A little Loctite goes a long way, if you slather it on there and strip the hex head, I wouldn't say that's Loctite's fault. I haven't noticed mine getting loose after swapping sides, I will check them ASAP. Everyone is sure Ruger doesn't put factory thread locker on any screws? Maybe this is a situation to try Loctite "222" though I don't have issues gracefully backing out screws on-purpose with blue.

I knew Lochtite Blue was "removable" but it looks like it was designed to use on fasteners that require normal disassembly. I thought blue was designed so that a fastener could be removed if removable was necessary. I found this datasheet on Locktite Blue 242...

I have a tube in the box and will go ahead and use it...

I think you guys are over thinking this. I run mine hard in USPSA and have close to 5000 rounds through it.

I hand “torque” the charging handle screw and have never had an issue.

                    Streamlight TLR-7

You guy using the TLR-7, how is the activation switch? Saw a YT vid where a guy was whining about how terrible it was compared to his gold standard Surefire X300 . I have two TLR1-S's that I love but they won't fit without grinding down a bit of the stock and then they block the sling stud.

Anyone know if they are aftermarket barrels in the works? I'd love to have a light weight barrel like a Tac Sol 10/22 barrel
