Wait for Reno Gun Show?

The Reno Gun Show is coming up in about 4 weeks and my thinking is instead of ordering and waiting, why not buy from one of the vendors up there? Likely to pay more I suppose, but you never know - there may be a deal or two floating around.

At the last show I got a 7.62 DPMS upper (16" bbl, brake & rails) for $800.00 but it was the only (7.62) one I saw and the AR vendors were in general few & far between.

Anyone know if the AR vendors are going to be out in force at the show, or will they be at work trying to handle all their incoming orders?

I'm definitely going to hit up the Reno gun show! I've been waiting for that one as well!

Sadly, I think many others will be doing the same as I. After hearing about the stampede at Cow Palace, I'm not going to hold to much hope for getting a lot of ammo at Reno.

Ya get there early. I hit that show in Nov. and they were six deep at the ammo counter. Everyone had dollies and were loading them up. I couldn't get anywhere close. I did find some other good parts, and plan to go back.

DPMS used to be at the show, no longer since Remington bought them , so I'm told. there are a couple guys that have the AR stuff, but no as what DPMS had.

Conveniently my father in law lives in Reno. I earned some extra brownie points last week by saying we should visit then soon as soon as I found out the date. I need parts for FAL mags, and ammo ammo ammo. If I find the odd OLL for sale I wouldn't be too disappointed either.

Or an upper / barrel combo either, or a FAL, or a Lee Enfield Longbranch No.4 from teh 1950's or a sporterized No.4 savage for truck gun purposes etc etc etc

I always find every thing my heart desires at The Big Reno Gun Show ! (Retro M16A1/AR goodies) (AK/AKM goodies) (Lotsa Milsurp goodie boxes to paw through) ...

I do love going to the Big Reno Show, it's a minivacation for me.

But for the random items, most AR stuff - at least uppers - isn't usually 1st tier, and chrome-lined bbls are hard to find. Typical vendors are Sherluck Mktg, SOG Armory, and occasionally DPMS.

You might well run into nice used uppers at some of the small vendors selling 'odd'n'ends', or a small vendor selling one-off stuff of good grade.

Ahhh... I was just about to ask when it was. Theres another one that will be there on April 4-5 and was wondering if the one you guys are talking about or this one will be bigger. I want to make it up to one of them but obviously want the bigger/better one

What were you going to buy?

I always buy some sort of C & R handgun or rifle and some odds & ends. Also make it a point to order or buy a T/C barrel from MGM when they're there. I have an AR 15 lower built that needs a heavy barrel upper - should be easy to score at the show instead of ordering & waiting. I think.

There is actually going to be two gun shows in April.
The first one is the cross roads gun show on april 3-5 2009
And then later in April is the best gun show to go to,
The big Reno gun show April 17-19
I may not recognize any of you but i will see you there for sure.
