    10/22 Stock legal...

This stock is legal for a Ruger 10/22 right? I wanted one but I wanted to check before I order it..

    Yep, because it's rimfire.

Keep your FOLDED LENGTH over 26" and you're good to go. 18.5" 'standard' 10/22 barrels exceed this requirement. 16" 'carbine' barrels do not. You can add a slip-on flash-hider to comply with this length requirement.

    Here's a pic of my little back-packer:

yes and no depending on your barrel length

with a 18" factory barrel (found on the common 10/22 at Big 5 etc) its long enough with 27.5" OAL folded, legal

a 16" barrel would make it 25.5" OAL folded, and thus <26" and illegal

Remember in CA, your rimfire must be >26" OAL at its shortest configuration

I know those numbers for a fact b/c I had one on my 10/22 and am now selling the stock b/c I went a different direction on the 10/22

Crap, I think I have the carbine length barrel on mine, the model was a 10/22 Carbine. I will check when I pick it up on the 20th.

Where can I find a flash hider that would put me over the length?

John Masen makes a couple of breaks specifically for this purpose.

Alternatively, you could have Randall of AR15Barrels.com thread your barrel for a REAL flash-hider.

You can also swap the barrel up with an upgraded barrel that's 18.5" long or greater?

'Tis true... there are TONS of OEM 10/22 barrels out there. Post a WTB on this forum and I can guarantee you'll get a ton of responses.

I'll trade you an 18" factory barrel for your 16" factory barrel.

Just kidding, I will keep you updated when I pick up the 10/22 on the 20th. If I decide to go with a new barrel I will totally PM you. I am thinking of getting the muzzle brake to add that extra evil look.

                            Good luck with that.
                            I paid $150 shipped for a like-new 10-22 with a scope on it about 6 months ago.

Yeah I was just being funny seeing as people are getting in line to trade barrels with me...

I will keep you in mind when I get it and decide what I am going to do. How hard is it change barrels?
