    $600 for Vltor VIS carbine?

I have a friend that wants to sell me his carbine VIS for $500 and he owes me $100 so I'll basically be getting it for $600. I already have a LMT MRP CQB upper so I'm wondering if it will be worth it and wanted to hear your thoughts. Also please let me know some pro's and con's to the Vltor VIS. Thanks everyone .

Bravo Company USA, Inc is your source for the highest quality parts, & tactical accessories for your AR-15, M16, M4 Carbine

Is this a whole rifle? A complete upper? Or just the VIS Carbine structure. If it is for a complete upper or even a whole rifle, then why are you even asking us if it is a good deal?

It's a TERRIBLE deal. But I'll do him a favor and take it off his hands. That's because I'm a giver.

It's just the VIS Carbine structure.. If it's a complete upper or even a complete rifle I would pick it up in a heartbeat!

How funny, I was thinking about asking him to sell it to me. Maybe I should just take the 6.8 off his hands for now

Just picked it up.. now I gotta figure out what kind of barrel I want to put on this thing..

I was thinking of a Sabre Defense 16" with front sight post. Any ideas for pro's and con's of a front sight post vs a gas block with integrated flip up sight?

I wanna build this as a "Survival Rifle" or as I like to call it "The One" and by reading this article it would seem better to stick with the front sight post.

And in terms of accuracy reduced weight and length would it be better to go with a 14.5" or 16" barrel?

Go with the 14.5. Though you'll have to use a pinned extended muzzle device, the shorter barrel makes the weapon so much more maneuverable at an acceptably small loss in muzzle velocity. Try running a 16" when getting out of a vehicle or working inside a cramped hallway, and then the 14.5 suddenly makes sense.

Having gone the fixed front sight route, I sometimes wish I had gone the flip-up sight route instead, since I like to run magnified optics. The fixed front sight appears as a super-blurry "ghost" in the lower part of the field of view and often reflects white light up into the scope. A folding sight would be too short to cause these problems.
