My rule of thumb is that if there is a doubt there is no doubt. If you believe that someday that police will enter your home, keep anything subjective locked up.

There are times when during a fire or robbery they may enter your home but they are not necessarily allowed to search it but if they happen to see or find something this could be a problem - a locked safe alleviates "by accident"

And if by a court order they do search more thoroughly than it would help to have any evidence to support your claims that you can.

Rebuilding a magazine you are using some new and some used, at some point they may be all new parts and then there's a grey area i guess.

If by some random chance you find yourself in a legal bind that you believe yourself innocent of, you have won the lottery as far as odds go - just in a bad way. Maybe it's time to just accept then God wills it lol!!!!

j/k fight like hell and have faith in the law - too many people needlessly don't

And I say this as someone who once saw a guy who was chasing my friend down the street with a crow bar after robbing him in Carlsbad stopped by the police who saw it to take pictures of there gang tattoos only and then released.

No, you don't know. High capacity mags are not illegal, PC 12020 never bans the possession of high cap mags. What PC 12020 does ban is importing, selling, lending or manufacturing high cap mags. PC 12020 also specifically states that rebuilding pre-ban high caps is perfectly 100% legal.

Big brother, can knock down your door and charge you with unlawfully knowing the laws on high capacity magazines. That doesn't mean it will hold up in court, it doesn't mean you'll be charged with a crime, it doesn't mean you'll be convicted of a crime and it doesn't change the fact that the State still has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you have committed a crime.

If you don't want to risk rebuilding pre-ban mags, you certainly don't have to. But it isn't illegal to.

IMO, you have a better chance of getting harrassed by an uninformed cop simply because you have pre-bans. The fact that you rebuilt them won't change an uninformed cop's mind one way or another.

And no, under no circumstances can you transfer high cap mags after year 2000.

Ok so my dad bought a couple before they became illegal. The reciepts are long gone..and well they're pretty beat up.They need new everything.
What if big bro goes crazy one day and breaks through my doors..and they find these legal magazines that have been rebuilt??
I know they're not illegal to possess.
So what if I find some beat up old ones too. I have sometimes came across some mags that have just been left behind. I sometimes regret not getting them. Happened like twice, and i think to myself, what if its a trap.? Am I legally entitled to them.? Because I found them. Can i rebuild these?
Do I get my dads mags like all his other stuff. Intrafamily..or does that not count?
        Just wondering. Thanks
No you CANNOT have them. They are NOT yours, they are your DAD's.

I personally will NOT touch or claim to have FOUND some "hi-cap" magazines....
