In my experience all 5 of my Mosins shoot high. With the bayonet on they shoot to the point of aim. Just tried my new hex receiver Mosin today at 100 yards and it shot about 10" high with Polish LB.

No, you just need to get better at shooting off-hand. It takes skill to do that right. They don't even teach that in the Army, only in the USMC.When you lay down, you're stabilizing the barrel. While standing, your body is twitching and stuff and throwing off your shots and you have to learn to control that. That's part of the fun of learning how to shoot, the discipline. I'm sure some of the NRA high power guys around here can teach you exactly what you need to know.
