NEVER USE GREASE ANYWHERE IN AN AR15, okay?

The noise in the buttstock may sound different due to different (commercial) tube sizes, buffer, etc.

As Xenohobe once wrote, "Sproing! Learn it, live it, love it!"

There's a chance your older rifle isn't cycling as well as the Bushy and you're used to the old one. Certainly with an 11.5" +FH bbl you're not getting that useable of a velocity.

My fathers RAW Colt AR's two of them have A2 buttstocks and they don't seem to be as noisy as mine. (I'm using a Rock River A2 stock kit). Hopefully shoot a few hundred more this weekend and see what happens. It's just kinda comical when you pull the trigger of your tacticool AR15 and you hear rrrrrraaaaazzzzziiiinnnnggggg!

If you want a little less "Sproing" try the Tubb Flatwire spring. In my experience, I get a little less noise than when I was using round springs. All my Poodle Shooters have been switched over to the Tubb Spring.

                      At a Puppy Farm...

The entertaining thing about Poodles is they can stand very well on their hind legs. If you string jerky snacks on a clothes line above them, they stand up for you and give you a better shot.
I would have said Chihuahua shooter, but that would be Racist since it is a Mexican dog.

I don't think you're supposed to put any lube in the buffer tube. maybe a very light coat at most.

what about the 9mm buffer and spring? I have heard mixed opinions on that mod.

I dunno, I've never been much for guns. I mean, sure, we have the usual gun by the door, another near the TV, one in the kitchen, and another in the bedroom...and several others laying around. For the most part though, we keep our home free of guns. We are peace loving folks.

                            Motorcycle supplies

Perhaps this might be crazy to some, but I used motorcycle chain lube on the buffer spring as well as on the inside of the buffer tube. (lightly) It did signifigantly lower the noise of the spring inside the tube,as well as smooth out the cycling. The chainlube also has additives to it that make the lubricant adhere really well to the metal parts. Its quiteter, and the lubricant does not leak or creep out of the buffer tube assembly.
