    Gun lock stuck on rifle

I have an AR that has been just sitting in the safe for many years.. so I thought I would pull it out. it has a gun lock/chain on it. I ve looked and looked and tried every gun lock key I have and non- fit.

If I were to take it to a locksmith or a gunsmith.. would they be able to remove it? Is there a way to cut it on your own?

    Sorry I feel stupid.

Bolt cutters. Hell, a pair of linemen could probably get the job done if your hands are strong enough.
As the great warrior poet Ice Cube once said "If the day does not require an AK, it is good."

Abrasive cutoff disc in an angle grinder.

              A hammer should work.

If you do angle grinder, wrap everything up. They spit sparks all over

I'd just use a hacksaw. Slow and steady, not noisy, minimal mess (stays in one area)

This. I cut off a neighbor's steering wheel lock with one of those.

I was at Angeles on a Wednesday night last summer and the group next to me, one gun owner, his buddy and their dates, found out they'd forgotten the key to the bag that held some rifle (this was on the pistol range). I listened to them seriously contemplate shooting the lock off, one of them wanted to ask the range guy if it would be okay. I left.
