I know this was covered before but I can't find it anywhere (searched calguns, doj, and batfe). What is the minimum height for marking manufacturer and serial on a firearm (I need to mark the 1919 I'm building)?

Unless I'm mistaken there is not a requirement for a serial number or manufacture's marking on a homemade weapon. I never marked mine prior to losing the right to own them by moving to California.Celebrating the Second Amendment, One Fine Firearm at a Time.

The serial number and ID standards for licensed manufacturers in both 27 CFR 478.92 and 27 CFR 479.102 specify engraving, casting or stamping numbers to a minimum depth of .003" and a print size no less than 1/16th".
So, I figure that if you're going to stamp a homebuilt, you might as well do it to those specs.Comment

Thanks all, I picked up some 3/32" dies. I realize I don't have to stamp it but I'd like to have an Identifier on it for my own use, and if I ever do sell it (yea, like thats going to happen) I'll need it so I figure may as well do it now.Pokey
