    Marking height

I know this was covered before but I can't find it anywhere (searched calguns, doj, and batfe). What is the minimum height for marking manufacturer and serial on a firearm (I need to mark the 1919 I'm building)?
    Thanks all.

    None.

Unless I'm mistaken there is not a requirement for a serial number or manufacture's marking on a homemade weapon. I never marked mine prior to losing the right to own them by moving to California.

The serial number and ID standards for licensed manufacturers in both 27 CFR 478.92 and 27 CFR 479.102 specify engraving, casting or stamping numbers to a minimum depth of .003" and a print size no less than 1/16th".

So, I figure that if you're going to stamp a homebuilt, you might as well do it to those specs.

Thanks all, I picked up some 3/32" dies. I realize I don't have to stamp it but I'd like to have an Identifier on it for my own use, and if I ever do sell it (yea, like thats going to happen) I'll need it so I figure may as well do it now.
