    Ordering a complete lower

I would like to order a complete BCM lower. BCM doesn't sell them but plenty of other vendors do.

My question is, since it is only a lower, does it need to be compliant (maglocked), or can it be shipped as is? Obviously once I pair it with an upper, which I will order at a later date, it would need to be compliant. I'm just not sure if the lower needs to be compliant before it comes into California.

Does not need to be compliant, its not a semi auto, center fire rifle. But good luck finding an ffl that will receive it. I'm not sure of any vendors that will send either.

Why not just build it yourself? BCM isn't anything special, they're using the same forged lowers and parts kits as everyone else.

They are overpriced too. But I want the matching set, BCM lower and upper, BCM bolt, the works. I want a really nice, all matching rifle. I can build this rifle with all matching parts for considerably less than a Daniel Defense or a LaRue.

If buying an out of state lower, you will incur sales tax, FFL transfer fees, shipping as well as the FFl Dros fee.

If you can get a middle man, Palmetto State Armory, had stripped lowers, not complete, for $49!

Maybe just buy a stripped BCM lower then buy all the parts on their website? It's not that hard to assemble a lower. I would call around to a few shops to see if they have BCM stripped lowers.

LaRue is a different animal brother, those are milled complete from a billet, you can see the 3D tool paths of you look at one close. That's going to cost more than a forging due to all the machine time and more machine setups.

I just ordered a complete lower from Riflegear.
LMT with A2 stock for a fixed mag 20" A2 (not quite a)clone build.

RG would only sell with fixed mag.
                  DFM mag or FC hook.

I called my receiving FFL and he's Ok with that.

I agree with most here that a complete lower is not semiauto and/or centerfire-but I also understand an FFL covering his butt when dealing with this stinking craphole of a state.

If you have to have BCM..first find a receiving FFL in California that will accept..and find out how they want it-"fixed mag" or "grip wrap" or if you are lucky-"just send it-it's not semiauto and it's not centerfire".

You may not find an FFl that says the latter.

Then find a supplier that will ship it in that configuration or to a middle man who will make it in that configuration.

I wanted the LMT-so buying an FC hook and a ASC 10 rounder was no big deal to me.

RG shipped it directly to my FFL hours after I ordered it.

                  ..

RG sells complete BCM lowers too but only 1 sku in stock.

If you order- add a DFM mag or FC hook and a 10 rounder(not pmag gen 3 they don't lock in w/o modding the mag)
I went with ASC 10 rounder.
