Also read a reply about good triggers not helping but rather being a placebo. This is untrue. Geissele triggers have incredibly fast lock times and thus limiting the window where you can affect the gun.

Being me, I have owned and tested a fairly large variety of AR triggers over the years.

In truth, I actually really dislike Geissele triggers. I have seen far too many of them have issues- like going uncontrollable full auto- and they are just "OK" to me.

The fastest trigger- as in it allows the quickest non-bumpfire splits- I have is likely the Elf. The new Timney Signature, which I do not have yet, might be a tick better. AR-Gold and Hiperfire I like but would not go out of my way to buy again. The KE Arms SLT-1 is pre-set at 4lbs is super crisp and has an incredibly short reset so once you are used to running it you can go pretty fast. However I find it very easy to bumpfire the KE Arms SLT-1.

Still, if your fundamentals are sound you will shoot the same groups with the 7lb trigger off a bipod and a bag you would if you had a 3lb trigger in the gun. Now if your sloppy, the better trigger will hide that.

The rifle on the left, the 18" 3-gun rifle, hits 600 yard plus shots on the clock without a lot of trouble. At my last match with any kind of "long distance"- 400-ish yards- I put rounds on target on the clock using 55gr Hornady American Gunner factory ammo instead of my usual 75gr handloads, because honestly I have good dope on the 55gr out to 500 yards and felt confident in my wind calls. Before it had any kind of aftermarket trigger in it (last year) it had a smoothed and polished mil-spec trigger with JP springs that yielded about a 4.5lb trigger that was smooth if a bit creepy, and I still made the long shots and was reasonably fast on the close stuff. The biggest improvement the trigger has made has been in giving me a little more confidence.

Fear is the spare change that will keep you broke

Call him run-like-hell-when-shtf-guy or dial-911-guy but NEVER call an unarmed man "Security".

Agreed, fundamentals trump all. Equipment makes it easier or elevates your level of performance.

Never heard of a G trigger going uncontrollable full auto though. Maybe the occasional treads about people claiming their SD3G triggers went full auto when in reality it is a bump fire situation.

I watched it happen at a 3-gun match. I had heard of it happening before and had a couple of doubles with mine, but nothing like this fellows. Since then I have found that it is more common than I ever would have thought. I have also heard from someone whose knowledge is much greater than mine that an early version of the Elftmann trigger I use would also go random full auto. I might actually have one of those flawed Elftmann triggers myself sitting on the workbench, as it has doubled on me a couple of times. Waiting for a replacement updated hammer or complete trigger to replace the one I have but it has fallen off my radar.

There is also a 100yd CMP match September 30th at South Bay R&G.

There is an Appleseed event October 7&8 at the Rainbow Range (near Fallbrook). It is very good instruction in basic marksmanship skills in standing, sitting, and prone positions. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/rainbow...ts-35363655646

I've had an SD3G double and even triple, but it was likely bump fire.
