    A few AR questions...

Hey curious how can you tell if your upper is chromed? I asked something about this the other day in another thread but now I have one person telling me my upper is chromed and one telling me it is not... I have a 16 inch DPMs. So I am just curious if it is or is not. Not that is matters as it shoots great..

And I just found a good deal on a Timeny trigger at www.tacticaldefensesurvival.com and I am curious who has run those yet. I have heard some great stuff about them from others, but you are the people who count!! Anyway I have to decide quick as they have like only 10 or 15 in stock and they should go quick. I tried to get 1 of over 30 lowers they had this week and they flew out so I do not want to miss out on a 3 lbs trigger... So I ask.... Thanks

On DPMS barrels I believe they normally mark if the barrel is chrome lined. The majority of DPMS barrels that I have seen are not.

if its not marked, its pretty easy if you just shine a light down the barrell and look. If theres a mirror-like finish on it, its chromed... most are marked cb and then the twist ratio.

I put a timney on my LWRC M6A2. It's a skeletonized 3lb. I love the trigger and would put one on every one of my AR's if I could afford it. My LWRC has a leupold 1.5-5 power scope so It's more of a longer range AR. The trigger at 3lb's helps keep the groups tight.

Timney is the ONLY trigger I use. The drop in easy and work great. Anyone who pulls the trigger will smile.

I run them in my ARs

Most DPMS bbls are not chrome lined.

If you have a flash hider or brake installed on the bbl it's difficult to see chroming from the muzzle end unless these items were removed. If you do remove them - you'll see a silver-grey dull shine in the bore that looks much different than the rest of the blued metal on the bbl.

Going further, if you apply a moderate amount of light thru the ejection port into the chamber area, a chromed chamber will look like a dull silvery-light-grey finish, much like that of an old used quarter. A regular chamber for an unlined bbl will be black/blued (unless stainless bbl).

[For 98.5% of ARs, if the chamber is chrome lined the whole barrel is. There are some limited runs of Colt 20" HBAR bbls from the very late 1990s that may have chrome-lined chambers without chrome-lined bores (kinda like some of the Steyr STG FAL bbls).]
