Mini 14 Barrel - Where Do I Find This?

I suppose it disperses heat from the barrel if you're comparing it to a barrel completely covered by something. I'm not sure how covering the barrel with something that has holes in it would make it cool faster than a barrel completely uncovered. Sort of like saying a half open window allows heat out of a house better than a fully opened window?

they often run about $40

and they attach with little setscrews that are pin like and they will scratch and if you try to use the sling attachment on the device if often pulls the setscrews loose and it will flop around like an empty roll of toilet paper

to install it you have to remove the front sight which is another annoyance

i'm pretty sure its only ral usefulness is an anti-burn shield in case you accidentallly grab the barrel after a couple magazines

i had one for a while and was so glad to get $20 for it on ebay and be rid of it my barrel still has the scars
