    Is this normal?

I just recently got a new upper and the BCG seems to be really tight up against the upper receiver wall. I have another upper receiver that I'm using as a reference and the BCG slides back and forth with ease on that one. Not so much with this new upper. I actually have to put some strength on the charging handle to get it to slide out. The other upper that I have moves EASILY when pulling on the charging handle. When you look at the older upper at the back view, you can tell that the space around the BCG is equal on all sides. Not so much on the new one. On the new upper, the BCG is recessed tightly with no space at the 10 o'clock position.

I lubed up the receiver right when I got it and the resistance is still pretty heavy. When I put it together with my lower receiver and pull on the charging handle, it snaps back fine. I swapped the BCG between the two and there isn't a tightness problem on the new upper anymore. This leads me to believe that it's the BCG and not the upper.

Is it normal to have a BCG that doesn't recess dead center of the upper receiver and require more than normal strength to pull it back? Here is a picture of the upper with an arrow pointing to where the BCG is touching the upper receiver wall.

Bother upper receivers are NEW btw.

smack the upper on a table 3 times, spin around twice, and put some remoil on the BCG, then throw some salt over your shoulder, and then put it in. i'll bet it works perfectly.

Did you have any problems while firing? But your problem will most likely be that its a new upper and it needs to be used, check it after a few hundred rounds to see if it still has the same resistance.

Maybe the locking lugs are too tight when engaged.

Don't be surprised. I've built more "mil-spec" stuff than anything else and the quality has always been very good. Sure the Noveske's and the POF's are nice and all, but there not $800 nicer! Not even the "Holy" Colt.

(and sorry to be a spelling Nazi, but "costed" is not a word. Well, maybe it is if you're still in the third grade. Use the spell check feature, it's free)

                  .

Where have you been lately?! $1200 for an "upper" end upper is pretty much the norm right now.
