California Legal XM1 Rifle M1/M14/BM59 Style

Here is a new item out that works well for shooters behind Enemy lines like CA, MD, NY & NJ.

The James River Armory XM1E2 is a semi-automatic rifle which fires the .308 round. It has a 17" barrel and matte black finish. This includes 1-10-round magazine and hard case. This is a Beretta BM59 Carbine clone. It was built with Mil Surplus Beretta parts with a New US receiver by James River Armory & New US barrel . This rifle blends the M1 Garand , M14 & BM 59 all in one rifle similar to a M1 Garand Tanker, that is mag fed , in .308 caliber . Works best with modern Mil Spec Brass ammo. Comes with a 10 round mag for compliance.

the coolest of the featureless rifles still available in CA

I'll take one of those over the Ruger Mini 14 or AR if I was going featureless

Looks like a single-stack mag. The James River Armory site strangely doesn't have any info on their guns other than some narrative back story.

Looks good at a decent price, though. Other listings I found in a quick check are at $1,499.

And unfortunately that's what kills it for me; proprietary mags. I feel they missed the boat by not modifying it to use common M1A/M14 mags.

              *sigh* shame, good looking rifle.

Was really considering one of these until I realized that. Really a shame it doesn't take M1A mags.

Do the receivers say BM-59 on them, like the other rifles with the original grenade launcher muzzle brake? Some FFL's are hard to convince to DROS them.

Have you ever compared the two mag types? The reality is the M14 should have used the BM59 mags as they are way more solid that what the US went with. Pretty much as bulletproof a mag as you can find. Aside from that why buy a something like a BM59 and expect to use the wrong mag with it? That would be like poo-pooing an MP40 clone because it didn't use UZI mags

That is an original style BM59 buttpad and yes there is storage that is accessed when you pull that metal tab to the side.

I had sent e-mails a long time back requesting they "re-name" their BM59 receivers to something else for us Cali shooters. Thank you!
