Yea, I built one (homebuilt not FFL), not that hard to build but it does take some tweaking to get opperational (mine is still tempermental depending on mags). Whos kit? My kit had a few hiccups building and the springs in the kit were USELESS. After trying alot of different springs I found that double springs top and bottom fit the bill (I used FAL inner/outer recoil springs cut to length). This is really weird because I was going to take pics tonight to post.
If you have any ??? just ask and I'll try to help.

Weaponeer has a sale on newly designed hammers by Vic. Seems to be heavier and the springs will stand a beating up to 600 rounds plus some.

I had a semi auto sten once, but it was such a piece of **** I cut it up and sold the parts for more than I paid for the kit...LOL

It always ran right, but as a semi auto they leave a lot to be desired...

            So I made this instead:

I still gotta tweak it, the hammer follows down sometimes...

That is a sweet looking build. Are you a welder? How did you do it. My kit is the www.semiautosten.com SA3. How about yours?

I still need to find someone to build this for me.

Mine is the same kit. I do weld but do not claim to be a welder. If you are anywhere San Luis Obispo area I'd be glad to help you out.

The Sten is not what I would call 'reliable' and definately wouldn't bet my life on it but the build and shooting it (on good days) were alot of fun, plus I like the historical aspect of it.

                  Well, it looks hot!

Did you do your own welding? Or did you do the rivets? Obviously, the mag well has to be welded.

I live in Los Angeles, and am not a welder, nor builder.

I need someone to build it for me.

Does it function okay? How about feeding and jams?

I did my own welding. Mag well top looks ok, bottom is kinda ugly.

I can help you do it but can't do it for you because I'm not licensed, just a hobbyist.

It's tempermental, one day runs like a top the next feed problems gallore (very mag sensitive). I'm still tweaking and working out the bugs.

Tell me, once you built it, how do you DROS it into your name?

brad- you do not dros it. DROS on rifles does not put the gun in your name. There is no database that keeps the gun registered to you. There is no DROS needed.

MKIII Kit and Semi Auto SA3 kit now available for sale!

Generally home-built long guns do not require any paper work either with the state or federal government. Unless you are into the sten from a historical perspective you maybe better off selling the kit and building a few OL AKs. None of the semi-stens run consistantly enough to be reliable.

I think DRH hit it, same money you could do an AK and have a much better weapon. I just love projects (even stupid ones )
