Mounting solutions for AK red dots? Pros/Cons?

I went with a Midwest Industries mount and an Aimpoint PRO that co-witnesses with my iron sights. I absolutely love it. If I can figure out how to post a pic I will.

Legion USA has alot of rail mounted optics solutions. There are a couple replacement dust covers with pic rails. Mounting them to far forward may make it front heavy and disrupt the rifle's balance.

There are many solutions and many are good, all depends on your preference.

Ultimak is hands down the best for low weight micro dots, like T1, PA and Holosun.
I have yet to see it for myself or other actually burning one. Not saying it's not possible but it would take a lot of impractical mag dumps. I believe in every round counts even if its in a quicker session.
Ultimak also does not increase forward weight as the tube is identical weight as original. Most micro dots are 5oz or less, some muzzle devices weight more and they are at the end of the barrel (obviously).
As to cleaning issue, I can guarantee you that for the life of your AK (barrel, bolt, BC and everything else) you do not need to remove your gas tube for the rifle to cleaned properly. 20G shotgun brush a few times trough it and you are done, AK's have large enough gas port to blow any powder/carbon out, it will never get clogged. But if your anal about it, a long wire-hook will work just fine (but completely unnecessary).
Another benefit of Ultimak is that you can mount offset flashlight mount and again, you are not using additional HG for it.

Own 6 rifles with Ultimak and I highly recommend it.
Another a very good option is RS regulate but at double the price (not a sleek-slim profile tough).

MI Rail works great at about half the price of the RS Reg....

I started off with a ultimak, but was not a fan due to worry about cooking my optic. Also didn't like it because I shot a lot of corrosive ammo and decided to take off the ultimak to clean which meant I lost zero.

Now I run a RS Regulate and a ultimak. I kept the ultimak just so I can mount a light.
