    Any recommendations for removing rust?

Was stupid in wanting to rattle can my beretta a300. Didn't like the way it looked so I stripped it down. In the process some of the phosphate or black paint on the barrel is now gone and I noticed some rusting starting. I tried brushing it out with balistol and a brass brush, but it doesn't get it all out of there. Anything that's a little better tonpull it out? Or should I just rattle can the whole thing again and hope the lack of oxygen will stop any future rusting?

    Rust and Blu remover.
If you have some hydrochloric acid around (drain cleaner type or swimming pool), mix a 2% solution, then rinse with distilled water.

Ballistol is NOT good in there. It is water soluble, therefore attracts water.
Wash your part in Dawn, then heat dry before treating for rust.

The problem people get with rust is they start brushing right away and drive it deeper.

Use rust converter paint where needed, then spray paint again.

Put a drop of CLP or Kroil on it, and then scrub it with the edge of a pre-'82(all copper) penny.

When it's clean, grease it with any high-temp bearing grease.

Rust converter paint? A gunsmith passing by at work mentioned eezox or another rust preventive but that its pretty toxic. Being that I have a 2 and 4 year old I try and limit the really bad **** in the garage. Actually one had a medical emergency so after a day of citristrip gel sitting on the shotgun to try and get this hammered metal rustoleum off and then hosed off all the gel, then I ended up away from it for a couple of days with no chance to properly dry it off and oil it.

I actually gave up scrubbing the barrel in certain spots because it wasn't coming off and picked up a can of aircraft remover but haven't used it to try and get the final coats off, as to the rust here's after scrubbing a bit last night

The muzzle end with the choke was before I went at it with the brush, I could never fully get the choke cleaned up in the little notches for the choke wrench.

This is what I use to clean and lube my guns and rifles. I personally have not used it remove any rust but it claims to be able to do it fairly well. Lubricant wise it's great! You can find it on Amazon as well.

Strip the barrel, use this as a base coat for the metal, finish entire rifle as you please with other paint.

I'll have to check this out as I was in the market for a new lubricant to replace my old stockpile of ballistol that was finally at an end. Had been thinking break thru.

I saw this on the shelf at walmart, I don't know why I was thinking that my barrel was stainless under the finish but its probably just usual shotgun barrel steel so this could work!
