on an other note i also have an M1 carbine back home. what do i need to do to get that here as well.

M1 Carbines are GTG in CA, as long as you don't use magazines greater than 10 rounds. So, if you have magazines with higher capacities, leave those in Maine, but you can ship the rifle here and buy 10rd mags.
