    Rocksett muzzle device

If I rocksett my muzzle device, how hard is it to remove it later on? I'm hoping I could easily remove it like locktite.

Geissele reaction rod, vice, and plenty of leverage.

I'm needing to take my FH QDC off an SR15 to throw on my MAMS and I'm pretty sure they use rocksett from the factory. Only problem is, I'll need the KAC version AKA knightstick.

Anyway, hope that answers your question.

I works like loctite but you need less torque to take it off but it hold up to heat without disintegrating like loctite would.

Perfect. Thats all I needed to know. I just want to make sure I can still remove the muzzle device easily.

Rocksett is water-soluble. Soak it in hot water 24-48 hrs. It should easily come off then.

Yep, I was just reading that it is water soluble.

Btw, I don't know if there's anything more heat resistant than GREEN loctite.

its easy to break loose, don't even sweat it. if you have the right tools, wrench away.

Rocksett has about the same thread locking strength as blue loctite 243, maybe even a little less than 243. The difference is that its strength does not break down with high heat.

It starts as a clear viscous liquid that quickly (~15-30 seconds) dries to a white gritty powder that can be wiped away with water.

I use it on threaded muzzle devices and on things that screw directly into the barrel, e.g. scout rails, front sight screws.

I've taken a few FH w/ Rocksett.. it's a breeze, you have nothing to worry about brother, other than it'll look like you had some SuperGlue on the threads once you get the FH/MB off lol

Listen up here folks. WATER is the way. If it came off with wrenches or heat it wasn't applied properly. Soak in water, then unscrew.

umm I've had it come off with wrenches on 3 different occasions. kindly tell me how I applied it wrong since both parts got wire wheeled and acetone bathed before application.

it was not easy but they came off with an upper block and proper sized wrench.

this is using a 4oz bottle of rocksett from the company that makes it.

Don't know what to tell you. Maybe the acetone was contaminated with oil? It can happen and leave a film. Maybe the wire wheel had oil on it and it got forced in to the steel. Adhesives and epoxies are funny things. It doesnt take much to reduce their effectiveness. I once put a S&W M&P 22 together and fit the hider/brake with Rocksett per the customers wishes. De-greased with clean MEK. Forgot to put the front cap on the hand guard and had to take the brake off to get it on. Tried heat and force and the threads came off the barrel with it. Had to replace the barrel! Ever since then if there is Rocksett used I simply soak it over night in water and they unscrew pretty as you please, with no force or drag.

how much was used? I run 2 drops for all my aac mounts. too much can lock up the threads good

After the M&P 22 fiasco I called the Rocksett people and they specify water to break it down. Soak in H2O and they come off like they were greased. Dirt simple. Why mess around with anything else?

So I guess the SEALS have no use for rocksett? Or anybody else whose muzzles might get drenched in rain or whatever?

Seems like a real limitation. Not criticizing, just wondering.
