Advanced featureless and fixed magazine option, The RGS-15

    Hi Calguns:
I’ve been a long time member and infrequent poster but this new compliance solution is deserving of your attention and input.
With a background in CA small arms accessories, the Oldcoast Industries team developed the Reconfigurable Grip System (RGS-15) for the AR series of rifles. We believe it to be the most advanced and capable compliance device available today.

Can’t decide between break top and or featureless, why not have both?

Here is the prototype in action:

    PS: Additional versions coming soon...

    RGS-47 for AK pattern rifles
    RGS-91 for PTR/HK pattern rifles
    ...

This is the only still image I could find on your site:

Interesting. A "folding grip". So it's not technically a pistol grip in that configuration. But folded down it is. Because it is so easy to change, I wonder how LEO and the DA would react.

The beauty of this design is that When the grip is folded down, and the web between the users thumb and index finger are below the exposed portion of the trigger, the magazine is locked in place. Under this configuration the rifle action must be disassembled to reload.

        Yea that is pretty interesting.

$200 though is insane to me though. Rather have that stripper clip system I saw a month or two ago.

Agreed that fast loading system looks great for mag locked guns

            That's what I was thinking.

Very gray area. I can shoot rounds with a pistol grip but then reload by moving grip back and then fold back down and keep shooting. That to me is very similar to a bullet button except you are using the grip to release the mag

That's pretty cool. I looked at the folding grip made by fab a while back as a option. Pretty neat. $200 is a lot though.

I'm thinking of registering the ones I bought recently. Like the factory pinned barrel one and a old ar pistol.

Fixed mag malfunctions seem like a real pain. And with a recent stuck ammo in chamber thread. Kinda rather go with register and features/standard.

I like the concept. However, I don't see it meeting the 2 "legal" non-registering options:

                    1) featureless - it still has a pistol grip, so it doesn't meet this definition
                    2) open action to load - it doesn't open action, so it doesn't meet this definition

Looks to me like, it doesn't have a pistol grip when it's in featureless mode, and, when in featured mode, it does have a pistol grip, but the only way that you can reload it is to either open the action or convert it to featureless mode.

Personally, I wouldn't buy one. But I do think it's pretty damn ingenious.

Hopefully my PM'd response to the main OC account helps clear things up, Jason.

Thank you for the positive support and orders! Great start towards our goal of 400 units. If you have not made it to the website, this is a self-crowdfunding based launch. With your support we will be able to bring this product to life.
