    KMR Alpha rail.

It's comfortable to hold, and light. You mentioned hunting so I figured you'd appreciate a light load.

RIS II or URX 3.1. You may not need to mount anything (yet), but theyre rock solid and will hold up to field abuse. The KMR never instilled much confidence in me. Felt frail. If you needed to, you could probably beat a hog to death with an RIS II haha

I haven't owned a KMR but heard they're a bit on the weak side.

The Alpha though is supposed to be a good bit stronger so I went that route. I'd definitely take a URX 3.1 or RIS over the KMR though...maybe OP should list a budget?

          Agreed, budget would help.

Reviews on the Hogue regarding installation are pretty negative, so I'd advise researching a bit before actually getting one. In that price range, the ALG Defense Ergonomic Modular Rail VO-E would be hard to pass up for use on a hunting rig:

URX 3.1 is definitely a solid rail, but pricey. Add in the cost of the proprietary barrel nut wrench and it's even more expensive. Also, for a solid install it needs locktite on everything, so if you ever decide to remove it, plan on replacing the barrel nut and potentially the upper receiver because there's a good chance they will get chewed up.

Dwilsonmfg.com makes a URX wrench and tool steel barrel nuts at a slightly cheaper price. But yes, good point, it is an additional cost

I have the D.Wilson Mfg wrench, I like it better than the KAC wrench actually. About half the price too. Haven't had a chance to try the tool steel barrel nuts though. If I ever do pull mine apart, I'll get one of those along with a new stripped upper just for a contingency plan for when everything gets pear shaped, lol.

If weight is an issue (usually is for long hunts) consider a carbon graphic.

Delta Team tactical sells those pretty cheap, like under $100.

I like the basic free float tube as well....

A couple of screws, washer, nuts and a weaver rail will allow you to add what ever is needed.... I like to option of adding a tall bipod for a hunting rig.....

Yes- I was teased until the Wyoming winds picked up and were gusting over 45 MPH

I sat down, dropped the bipod legs and had no issue.... the bullet is moved a tiny bit at hunting ranges by wind... the shooter can be moved a lot....

For the money ALG is a great value
