    M1A Promag Archangel w/California featureless add-on

Do you think this configuration is considered featureless? Is bipod considered forward grip?

I know this topic have been beaten to death, but I have not seen any photo with a similar configuration and I am concerned.

    Thanks!

Is this a flash hider or muzzle brake/compensator? How do you tell the difference?

      Sure looks featureless to me.
There is no reason to call a bipod a forward grip and it sure doesn't meet the definition.
That looks like a muzzle break. The opening is similar in diameter to the crown and functions as a break.
My non attorney not legal advice opinion.

If I recall correctly, many years back when this first came out, folks deemed the grip or rather where your thumb wraps around it to be too low making it a "pistol grip" which makes it featured. I don't know if that was ever clarified.

Because they added a higher grip part for CA.

That's definitely a brake/compensator combo, but the important thing is how it's described by by the manufacturer. If they mention any flash hiding/suppression it's a no go. The grip would have me concerned with a LEO trying to make a name for himself and coming after me.

When ever the subject comes up here, there is considerable discussion(read that as "disagreement") over whether or not the original is a "pistol grip". There is even about a 50/50 split at the manufacturers.
I have one, and believe it is legal. But, many others disagree, and that is there right.

I just realized they added something to the grip area. Looks good to me.

Seems fine legally, but that's totally one of those "bumper sticker on a Bentley" things.....

That, there, is a "jet" brake. It definitely is not a flash hider, and the percussion blast that is felt with every shot fired should be evidence of that.

I had the Archangel stock for one of my M1As, a cheap alternative to McMillan, Sage, and JAE stocks. It's more crude and less refined than the aforementioned but a fraction of the cost, and it's effective.

Featureless to me is worth getting the magazine release button back.
I don't know why anyone would sacrifice the magazine release for every other feature.

Not looking into SHTF situations of course. I'm sure should we get a big quake in Cali and would have to worry about looters... everyone would put the old parts back and be like f**k that featureless BS.
