I Know, I Know, Another Buffer Weight Question

I have an AR pistol that is giving me fits and, based on research, it looks like I want to try the easiest replacement first, the buffer assembly. I have a 5.56, 7.5" barrel with a .750 gas port. The barrel is a 1:7 twist rate and I'm mainly firing 55gr, sometimes (very rarely) 62gr. I'm using a standard rifle buffer (it was a quick budget build). It's also got a PSA full auto BCG. What would the experts here recommend for a proper weight for this setup? Do you need any additional information?

If you're using a rifle buffer/spring in a pistol tube - that's probably your whole problem right there.

.750 is a very large gas port. Do you mean .750" gas block? or 0.075" gas port?

Also, you're using a standard rifle buffer in a pistol buffer tube?

If you're using a rifle buffer/spring in a pistol tube - that's probably your whole problem right there.

You already have the heaviest setup commonly available without going to non-standard parts.
An A2 (rifle) buffer is already over 5oz.
To get heavier than that, you need to go with non-typical parts.

Put an adjustable gas block on it.

Every 7.5" bbl AR pistol I've assembled used a carbine 3oz. buffer/spring/RE.
(except one, different story)

DI gas systems always get an adjustable gas block.

This is your solution right here, I had the same problem and just cut my spring down a little bit. Just cut off to coils at a time until it is right.

Install an adjustable gas block and tune it. I also used a 4 oz tungsten powder buffer for smoother cycling. I use those in all the AR's, rifle length carbine buffers are 3 oz.

That's a good way to end up with failure to feed.
