Anyone in SoCal who can mill out single-stack VZ-58 to double-stack?
So I have this mint, unfired, new in the box, very early D-Techniks VZ-58 rifle.
This is the "Sporter" version with the black polymer "thumbhole" stock and handguards.
It is still in the original configuration that uses only the single stack clear plastic Czech 10 round magazines...which are not real common (it came with 2 of them) and really limit the use and enjoyment of a modern semi-automatic magazine-fed sporting rifle.
So rather than look for more of the single-stack mags, I'm thinking having the receiver opened up to take the standard double stack mag would be a better idea.
Having seen the atrocities that clowns who call themselves "gunsmiths" but have no idea how the rifle works have done to AK-47 rifles, I certainly do not want to trust my VZ with anyone who is not familiar with converting these rifles or AK's to double stack....don't need any "Century Arms drunken monkey" grade work.
Is there anyone in the SoCal area who is familiar with the VZ-58 and can open up the mag well in a single stack rifle to double stack?
