Can you still build an AR pistol in CA?

Can you still build an AR pistol in CA? I have been looking all over the internet and talking to local gun shops and either no one really knows or they say complete opposite things i.e. No absolutely not or yes with some restrictions. I was hoping someone could clear this up. Thanks.

If you can build a pistol in CA, you can build a pistol, unless there is a law against it.
