AR legality question

Do muzzle brakes or flash hiders need to be permanently attatched too be legal on a pistol gripped lower. Thanks guys.

if you have a pistol gripped lower then that makes it illegal by itseelf without a fixed mag. you need a bullet button, prince 50 or some other way to make it a fixed magazine. The only reason i see people permantly atattch a flash hider or muzzle break is to make the barrel 16" which is california law. Many people get 14.5" barrel kits and permanantly afix a flash hider to make it equal to 16". Hope I helped, and someone please correct me if i am wrong.

I was just about to post the same... its also possible that a pinned FH will help you meet the over all length requirement if you have a collapsible stock

Thanks guys. Right now I have a Model 1 20" varmint with a target crown. I know about the bullet button and 10 round mag part. I would like to get a Grendal upper or 6.8 next. I believe they have a threaded barrel which I wasn't sure was illegal or not.

Threaded barrels are illegal in CA for pistols but not for rifles.
