    PTR 91 Scope

I'm not overly into the HK 91 type rifles. I have a PTR 91 with alot of HK parts but it is after all just a copy. The claw mount is HK original, but putting a $500.00 Hensoldt on it ain't gonna happen. The Russian "PU" scope seems like a good fit, but I'd like a modern repro. The "Firefield" brand seems a bit too cheap and the turrets aren't the same. Who makes a good, 1" knockoff of the PU scope?

Obviously I don't need the Mosin mount, so it's "scope only" and it has to be 1".

The G3 type rifles have quite a bit of initial recoil thrust and are hard on scopes. I think you might be unhappy with the cheap ones.

I wouldn't bother with mounting a PTR91. The scopemount sits way too high because of the rear sight drum. Scopes will interfere with the charging handle, and you will run into eye relief problems. If you have a welded rail, then this makes it much easier. I can be done, but it makes the rifle even more unergonomical. I don't enjoy shooting it at all with a scope.

If you want a positive experience with a scoped PTR then use the scope system designed for it. Hensoldt 4x24

It's NOT a sniper system. More like a DMR issued scope. Nothing special about the host rifle.

I have a Hensoldt type 1 with claw mount. It is the most robust scope/mount system that works best for the G3/PTR IMO.
Bullet drop compensator and ranging are built in.

            Linkage for more info HERE

The whole height over bore thing is designed for soldiers wearing their brain bucket while shooting. Shooting one well is not difficult at all.

Tried them, slim pickings. I suppose I can bounce back and recheck. Alot of originals listed and I don't want that. I use an HK cheekpiece so height really isn't an issue.

Somewhere between "cheap as hell" and the Hensoldt there ought to be something worthwhile.
