    Best 5.56 77gr Ammo for Mk12 Mod0 SPR

I've just completed my MK12 Mod0 SPR build and now of course I'm looking for some ammo. Based on my research it looks like 5.56mm 77gr NATO is the way to go cost wise over .223 which seems to be more expensive. I've been looking at Federal FC262 77gr

or IMI Razor Core 5.56mm 77gr

I'm leaning towards the IMI Razor Core because there are more reviews on it than I can find with the Federal FC262 but I know that Federal is good ammo

What would you recommend? Oh and by the way here are some pictures of my MK12 Mod0 build.

Use whatever takes you to the level of accuracy desired.Creedmoor Sports makes there own ammo now .With 75s and 77s developing 2800fps at the muzzle from a 20" barrel.
          Keep it simple!

Yes. You're thinking of 80gr VLDs.

OP, take a look at the new Hornady 73gr ELD Match. If you want a complete round, it is only offered in 223 right now, not sure why Hornady isn't making a 556 pressure load.

If you roll your own, I've used HDY 75gr HPBT with good results in front of 24gr of TAC in an LC case and CCI41. 600yd hits are very reliable. I've gone longer on a good day.

OP; one thing that no one has mentioned here is that you should buy a box or two of different types between 69gr to 77gr.

This is to include Blackhills 77gr reman (or new), IMI 69gr and 77gr, etc.

I say this because even though your 1:7 will stabilize heavier rounds, no one will know what ammunition your rifle likes best if you don't try several different types out.

Your Ballistic Advantage barrel will not be rifled the in the same manner the Douglas barrel is so what is recommended in one might not be ideal for the other.

Test out different types of ammunition (clean between different types of rounds) and make your assessment there.

I tried Hornady TAP 75gr and although it grouped between .9"-1.25"ish, Black Hills reman. 77gr shot consistently better between .5"-.8" (big difference).

I also shot the IMI 77gr and even though it groups well in my buddys KAC rifle and in my own, my MK12 doesn't like it as much. That stuff groups about the same as the Hornady, sometimes larger.

Buy them all, test them and pick the winners. If you don't you may never know.
