aimpoint + mount

I need to get myself an aimpoint sight and a mount, but I need some recommendations for mounts.
I'm not going to war, so I don't need any "tactical" mounts that will work in zero gravity, under water or after being dragged in mud for two months. I only need something that will keep the sight in place.

Need two mounts, one for a flat top stag upper with the picatinny gas block and one for a bushmaster flat top upper with a standard front sight (maybe maybe backup sights on this one).

Pointers to where to buy would be appreciated as well.

Assuming you're getting a Comp M(L)2/4 series, you're going to need a 30mm mount, preferably with a wide ring. You can go with a generic Aimpoint mount for about $25:

The ARMS 22M68 or the Larue mounts are good for the flat top, but cost $100 and up.

I personally use an Aimpoint QR mount, but on a forward carry handle mount since I have my Aimpoint on an A2 style upper.

No! I have those rings on my SU-16CA and have tried them on my AR and it was WAY to low. I have a Larue now and it rocks. The quick detach is great and it always holds zero. I really would suggest getting a quality mounts, I have had way to many cheap POS's come loose on me.

I honestly cannot give an accurate assessment on this issue. If you search Midway's pages for "Aimpoint" it'll return a query with their scopes and rings. Check each ring/mount and click on the "Technical Specifications and Use" link for each product. It should give you ring height. For example, the ring I posted has a listed height of .445" (measured from base of ring to bottom of scope tube), according to Midway. You're going to need to measure this. I know Aimpoint sells mounts/rings with a spacer option, as well.

You don't need to have the front sight to be completely out of the view of the Aimpoint sight picture. If anything, lots of people want it so the front sight post is close to the center of the Aimpoint sight picture for cowitnessing.
