    Safety Selector Help

Any advice on how to get the safety selector tighter? Doesn't "snap" down into fire position nor back up to safety. Have to guide it the whole way and really annoying. Never had this issue before.

Is the correct spring for the detent installed correctly and not squished in between the receiver and grip? Is the detent installed? Grip screw tight?

Yup, checked the box on all of those. Done this a few times before and never had this issue. Using a Talon safety and moe grip, nothing unusual.

Only thing i can recommend is throw in a regular selector and see if anything changes. If its a noticeable improvement, toss the talon.

          AR15...

Same shape as any normal detent. Tried two different springs, both have same issue with the safety not "clicking" over. Only other thought I can think of is the hole on the grip for the spring is deeper than normal. Might have to try a different grip.

The safety selector has a small notch to catch the detent.

Is the notch filled with gunk?

Also if you remove the safety altogether do you see the detent coming out of the hole? Make sure there isn't a burr blocking the detent or gunk occluding the detent channel

Good point I'll check that today

There have been reports on another forum that Magpul MOE grips seem to have a deep spring pocket. Try putting something in under the spring to see if that helps.

I put grease(auto assembly lube) on my detents. Keeps them lubed. Also, keeps them from falling out while removing the grip.

I take the o-rings that come with raddlocks and cut them in pieces about 1/16th in inch in length and then drop them into the grip until I get the tension I want.

                      Thanks for the tip

This^. I put a BAD selector and an MOE grip on at the same time. After one trip to the range the selector lost its detent feel. I think it is the spring pocket all though I've not tried to fix it yet.

I am going to buy a small set screw at the hardware store so I can fill part of the hole...

Again, I haven't tried it yet because, well, I'm lazy.
sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

The same issue happens when I try a seekins selector, weak pressure. Must be the grip hole...

Ohhhh. I like this idea. You can cut the spring to accommodate the length of the set screw - then you have easily adjustable tension!
