    Suggestions for a Rifle Sling

I'm looking for a comfortable rifle sling. I'll be slinging over my shoulder a bolt action rifle that runs a good 10lbs. With so many different types of slings out there, I'm not really sure where to start?
    Budget - about < $30
    Material - withstand moist weather
    - Does not need to carry extra cartridges.

    Any tips or suggestions?

I made one of those this morning; it's pretty cool (once you figure out how to work it! ), and totally worth the time...

This is really all the antis have? I suppose they expected the second amendment to list full names and social security numbers!

Does your rifle have sling studs on it?

That can influence what you end up getting.

Are you planning on using the sling just for transporting the rifle (as you said, slung over your shoulder) or do you intend to use it as a form of shooting support?

Bit more info and we might be able to give you some constructive ideas.

I'm not thinking about using a 3-point sling as I'm looking to have some sort of padding at the shoulder. I've used those 3-points and they eventually dig into my shoulder.... I'm just looking for your classic sling that will be used for transport mainly and not for shooting support.

Well, just off the top of my head.....

You'll find high-quality gun parts, gunsmithing tools, firearms, ammunition, reloading equipment, optics, and more!

If you don't have sling studs already on the rifle, these won't do you much good though. That's an extra expense you might have to factor in.

Oh, forgot to mention that it does have sling studs already...
I'm looking at some Butler Creek slings as they supposedly "stretch" like a shock absorber....

                  Joel,
Walmart sells a black/brown padded sling for $24.95 IIRC. They work great for heavier rifles. I liked the first one so much I went back and purchased another one.

I use an Israeli IDF-issue sling. It's very wide and very adjustable. It can be made to fit anything. With shipping (from Israel!) - it's under $20.

                      Joel,
I carry my varmint rifles all day long with the butler creek strech slings. Very comfortable slings that you can use to carry a heavy rifle all day long. They make life much easier. Buy the butler creek sling, you won't regret it.

Has anyone used this one before

I just bought two of them and have yet to put them on my Mini 14 and M1A.

Any opinions on the Outdoor Connection one?

I did a search and that is how I ended up here.

                          Thanks in advance.

                            Tactical Intervention Quick Cuff Sling

While these are about double your $30 price range...

I suggest the Model 2 version. They are GREAT and I've got them on almost all my rifles. The USMC just awarded TIS the contract for all of their slings BTW.

They are great people to do business with also. When I ordered a few Quick-Cuff slings they sent along a couple of their basic models as well for FREE.

Best sling out there, especially if you plan on shooting in various field positions.
