Well, it MIGHT work if your 'main' gun's name is Dr. E-vil (.208/.300 mag AR?, Barrett?)...

There's nothing "mini" about the price of those things.

        Still, well under a grand.

The flood of inexpensive AR's have tainted the market. No reflection on the improved Mini-14's intrinsic value.

Volume production has made the AR series incredible affordable. When I bought my first Mini, a series 180 in 1975 or thereabout the Ruger was much less money than either the AR15 or AR180. The AR15 SP1 was downright expensive.

The Mini-14 was in short supply and a hot commodity commanding scalpers prices then. I got mine from the gunshop I worked at, at 'only' the retail price.

            Delusion party of one!

$1k msrp, 8-10% sales tax gets you a $1100 rifle with a 5 round magazine. You buy a couple extra mags and you are looking at over $1200 for a rifle that should cost $400.

Playing Devils advocate: Anyone who pays MSRP on ANYTHING is an idiot. But, the Mini, IMHO, is not an $800 rifle(sale price) in comparison to an AR at $600.

Supply and demand is what keeps the price of the Mini at $750+ in comparison to a $600- AR

                  $400? Seriously?

Mini haters really need to give it a break. You cant even get a SU-16 for 400 bucks.

For the longest time, I thought Minis were a little overpriced.. until I got one. I got a Wood/blue steel ranch rifle last year for 800. That's about as much as a decent AR.
Id argue 800 is about what a quality firearm goes for.

The Mini-14 actually has great fit and finish. The wood stock is beautiful and the blueing is great. I'd say it's worth the 800 bucks. Would it be nice if it were cheaper? Sure. But let's not act like the things are $2700

They cost what you'd expect a quality constructed, Made in America rifle to cost.

I had a mini 14 once, it was banned

Not arguing with that. I would also say that it is a lot easier(Cheaper/individual components) to assemble a budget AR than it is a Mini, and still maintain decent quality control.

Haven't seen anyone selling Mini receivers or parts to build one, but the Mini Ruger sells qc is fine. Besides that if you assemble a cheap AR same guys that rag the Mini rag it.

Stainless at Turners for $879.98. Seems to be the usual price between Big 5 and Turners.

I do agree they are kinda pricey.

I got my recent 582 blued with synthetic stock for $699, which on its own is all a decent price. However, the MSRP of $950 is way to expensive. MSRP of $750 and and a street price of around $650 is very reasonable.

The fact that ARs can be had for $350 isn't the fault of Ruger, but a sign of the supply and over saturation of the AR market.

                                True, I'd rather get a Rem 700.
