Check THIS out re 'Fixed Magazine'- NEW!

There's a device that I just became aware of where one lifts the upper using 'Quick Pins' and magazine automatically drops out; close the action and insert a mag the normal way. It's quite ingenious.

It's worth looking into, though it's not cheap with two modifications to the firearm. But the Safe Mag alone is but $69.00. If you built your own AR you should not have any significant challenge re installation. There are other videos from Cross Armory depicting installation of the devices, e.g, the Mag Safe and the Quick Pins. May not be any more challenging than installing the Patriot. I'd probably need to use gunsmith for either but that is just me!

SEE: https://crossarmory.com/shop/ar/safe-mag/ and be sure to scroll down to the Quick Pins.

I can't comment on legality under the new laws except it appears that it might be compliant.

That would be bad if there was a malfunction.
You might not be able to clear it.
      Unsafe!!

I just installed the Cross Armory Safe Mag and Quick Pins on my AR. I've tried ARMagLock, Patriot Mag Release (BB Reloaded) and I have to say this is the best solutions so far, it's so much quicker and better than any other devices, only the price is a little steep for the whole set ($69 for the Safe Mag and $129 for the Quick Pins), but you don't need both Safe Mag and Quick Pins for compliance, all you need is Safe Mag for compliance, and the Quick Pins is just more for convenience. I just love how quickly and easily to drop and reload mag with it, even better than fumbling with the bullet button

I got mine from Gun California for $188 with shipping included (insurance required but not included) for the set (Safe Mag + Quick Pins), retails at $198.

This is as safe and compliant to the new CA gun laws as it can be. In case you have a jam or double feed, you can use the included allen wrench to disassemble the Safe Mag and remove the mag safely to clear the jam.

The innovators are going to kick azz on any new laws....until they just ban everything. But great to see.....will be interesting to see what takes hold for the majority of non-registrars.

This is really cool. It is just on the pricey side.
Another version that looks really promising is from Battle Arms Development.

It's distant second mods like this that I bought my AR15 in 2016

In opening / closing action continually, there will be wear and eventually play and looseness on the upper/lower joint in these post 2016 guns
