    Savage rifle shortage?

So, I'm in the market for a .22-250, Savage, preferably a package gun.

Nobody in San Diego seems to have anything in stock, and the distributors are out as well.

    Anybody know what's going on?

Has Obamaphobia gone all the way down to bolt-action varmint rifles?

Did everybody start coyote hunting all of a sudden?

    Riflelessly yours,

      Well, given what our local

shops charge for FFL transfers, 65 - 100 bucks, plus shipping and DROS, it's not a preferrred method.

But it may come to that.

Have you tried Davidson's Gun Genie? Here is a sample of a rifle that is in stock that they will send to one of their listed FFL dealers. I used zip code 92110. Hard to tell which zip to use as San Diego has like 10-15 different zips listed.

          Found one!

One of two, at apparently the only distributor that still had any.

De Chiel Firearms in Chula Vista.

So far painless. Really nice guy, ordered the gun for me based only on a phone call. I offered to give him my credit card # over the phone, he would have none of it.

If the rest of the transaction goes as well as this, he's earned a regular customer... especially considering the attitude quotient of some San Diego FFLs.

shouldn't be able to charge that much (although, really, they shouldn't be able to charge anything, because I shouldn't need a special store to buy a common consumer item).

They can charge whatever they want.

I'm equally free to say that charging someone $150 to take a box from the UPS man and accept a form that they customer fills out for you is ridiculous, and you'll not get that money out of my wallet.

I'm equally free to say that, if your store is willing to rip off it's customers to that degree, that I'll not buy anything from you at all.

Treat your customers well... you'll have more of them.

Has anyone tried to order a Savage thru Big 5? The manager told me last year that he could order guns if they didn't have the caliber in stock.
