I couldn't comfortably hold my SKS, so I wanted to make my grip angle more vertical. Some people have suggested building it up with Bondo or similar, but I didn't want to make permanent modifications. So, voila. I used silicone self-fusing tape as an underlying barrier between the wood and some Apoxie Sculpt, which I used to build up the grip angle. Then, I wrapped it in an additional layer of silicone tape for aesthetics, and to reduce the risk it's ripped off. Silicone tape is non-adhesive, it bonds to itself and holds via friction, so if it is ripped off, or if I get tired of it, 10 seconds with knife and it's off with no change to the underlying stock. It points much more naturally now, with no wrist contortions or chicken-winging needed, and as bonuses the tape is quite grippy, and the Apoxie Sculpt has minor embedded finger grooves. Very pleased at how this turned out.
