I am helping a friend who is battling for his life. He has am M90 Underfolder with flip up night sights, slant break, certificate, oil bottle, pull through cleaning rope, a 30rd mag, and a 75rd. (Chinese) drum. From my understanding as I have been out of the business for a while, that this is on the ban list. So to make it clear, he is in possession of the registered A.W. The last time I can find that one sold was a standard model 3 years ago for $3300. If anyone has information on , or knows who would be interested, I guess it has to be outside the people's republic of California. I was the original owner and he never fired a **** tgrough it. So I put all lead down range with it. Less than 300rds. There were 1000 imported, but there are several variations. Depending on the customs officer that did the mods. The bayonet lug on this one was ground off. Everything else in tact. Any help would be appreciated. I also have one more question, according to curio and relic list, this should qualify. When I purchased it originally I was informed that there are only 138 in this exact configuration. Any help would truly be appreciated. Thank you.

Why the guy is dying and it is registered?
I think it has to be deregistered so you can sell it for him?
Or if he puts it up for sale or auction then put not for sale in CA.
I don't remember mitchell arms on the list maybe wrong. Good luck someone will have a better answer.2024 New Year?s resolution will be no posting..Comment

He is dying of cancer
As I said, and since you want to know, he has been fighting bone cancer from Vietnam. 6 years of fight. He is in the hospital. The gun is at his home . Which he was smart enough to register it in both he and his son's name before he gave up his FFL. I disagree with his move as I believe it qualifies for the curio and relic list. And I have never seen it on any other list. But another form that I asked for help just to find out any more information, one of the response was that it is banned in California. I am trying to find out. On that same form a person said that the last one they had seen sell was for $11,000. But in neither response were any sources given. So I am doing the leg work for someone. Who can't do it for himself.
The laws have changed so much, that I don't think anything is legal in California. I was also informed that .22 are no longer exempt from the A.W. ban.
Either way is there anyone out there that knows an AK conisour , that maybe able to guide me to answer these questions? I contacted my former employer, who is a class three dealer, and he couldn't find it on a ban list or curio and relic list. The last book published about curio and relics that I can find is the 2002 edition. Any help for the information would be appreciated. I am not offering it for sale, I don't have it to offer it. I will help him and his family liquidate his estate as he asked me to. I am just hoping it's not for a long time.Comment

First let me say that I am sorry about your friend. I too think you will get better answers to you questions regarding value on AKfiles.
As witnessed by the fact that you have already gotten two stupid replies on this forum, you can see that there is little knowledge about preban AK's in Commiefornia since they have been blocked from being traded or sold since the first AW ban went into effect. Combined with the usual assortment of hand-wringers, net nannies and busybodies, I think that most of the responses you are going to get here are going to be useless.
Since it is a registered AW in the PRC, it can be freely sold out of state. I think that Gunbroker would be the best bet. The magazines are a different matter since the wording of the law makes the legality of selling them out of state somewhat ambiguous.
Conversely I suppose it could be shipped to a dealer outside of the PRC and they could handle selling it for a fee. I don't know how sick your friend is, but it sounds like time is going to be an issue and I don't think he may have the luxury of being able to hold out trying to eek the last shekel out of it.
I know that the Mitchell Arms imports are sought after and are considered some of the best that were brought in before the '89 ban and even the standard models command a premium. The main interest in it is going to be from those that collect preban AK's, Yugo manufactured arms and people that collect .223 AK's.
Value is a subjective thing and while one may have sold for a certain amount a while back, that is not going to guarantee that your friends is going to sell for the same amount. That is why Gunbroker may be his best bet, let the market determine the value.MLC member.

The fixed stock version is not attracting too much money on GB, bidding went up to about $2k, but did not meet the reserve.
God bless your friend, and good luck.Comment

Thank you to all who have give your blessings for my friend, and all additional help, guidence , and advice. As I stated, he also registered it to his son, a duel registration. Although his son will handle the actual transfer and transaction (to stay completely legal.) None of the families minds are in a spot to accomplish much. Even after an amazing fight by there family member, who is to this day proud of being a United States Marine. Simper FiComment

There is a member here who may be of help, though I'm not sure. Over the years I've seen him list rifles for sale similar to the one you are inquiring about and he may be able to help with some info.
The member is Mercenetti. Send him a PM and see what happens.
Good luck.Comment
